Description
Inspector Morse is a melancholy, enigmatic and romantic man who never uses his first name and who finds solace in real ale, classical music and difficult crosswords. Together with his able Sergeant Lewis, Morse uses his condierable intellect and passion for the truth and justice to investigate death and murder in the English university town of Oxford. (Second time around) The murder of a retired police commissioner and the theft of a chapter of his memoirs seem linked to a child's killing eighteen years earlier. (Fat chance) Morse is attracted to a female cleric while investigating the suspicious death of a woman deacon, a strong candidate to become the first female chaplain of St. Saviour's College. (Who killed Harry Field?) Harry Field was an artist, a raconteur, a drinker, and not averse to forging the odd painting. His mysterious death leads Morse to discover that perhaps Harry was not the loveable rogue he appeared to be.
